Self-Improvement: Rewarding Thyself

We will receive not what we idly wish for but what we justly earn. Our rewards will always be in exact proportion to our service. – Earl Nightingale

Let me derive from that – you only achieve something if you work for it – and so, if you work on something, you ought to be getting rewards from it too, right? So for all those who work their asses off – How often do you reward yourself after you’ve accomplished something? Do you get yourself something in exchange for your hard work or for certain sacrifices you have made in order to attain your goal?

Sadly, I don’t do that often. I am one of those people who tend to forget giving myself a treat every now and then. Sometimes, I even feel guilty when I get myself things I want. That’s just bad, right? Experts say that rewards motivate you further and make you more productive and more eager to accomplish more. Rewards make you anticipate for more treats, and thus more compelled to do what it takes to progress and achieve your goals. I should really work on that reward thing.

So, to start, my very first reward for good work done this January… An Oreo Cheesecake! I bought it using a discount voucher from one of those groupon sites online.

Cheesecakes are love. Really. I just wish this one was thicker… and I also hope that by the end of the year, I’ll be able to make my own no bake cheesecake at home. That’s one additional – but tasty goal for me this year.
